Lois H. Pope, Ph.D.

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Pope is a licensed psychologist in the private practice of clinical and consulting psychology. She is owner and founder of Alabama Psychological Services Center. Dr. Pope earned a doctorate degree in both Clinical and Social Psychology from Vanderbilt University. Her clinical training and experience focused particularly on the various disorders of childhood and adolescence. Her research was focused on the development of measures of personality for children and adolescents.

In her private practice, Dr. Pope specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. She provides psychological testing to assist in the diagnosis and treatment learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, disruptive behavior problems, and mood and personality dysfunction. She utilizes a variety of behavior and play therapy techniques when treating children and coaches parents in effective behavior management techniques.

Dr. Pope also provides psychological services to adults of all ages and treats a wide range of psychological problems. Her services include psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups. She provides functional assessments of parenting skills and provides custody evaluations for the Court system. She provides psychological evaluations to assist with differential diagnosis and treatment of psychological and cognitive problems. Typical referral sources include other therapists, physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, businesses, churches, local and state agencies, community social service agencies, and schools. Corporate services include coaching, employee assessment, and training.
